Vintage Chinese Porcelain Sweetmeat Container with Swallows & Blossoms

A vintage Chinese porcelain sweetmeat container decorated with floral blossoms and swallows against a vibrant yellow ground. Hand-painted enamel decoration and a traditional cloud-and-thunder border bring colour and intricate detail to this Chinese export porcelain piece.

Approximately 11 inches in diameter and 7 inches high, the container makes a distinctive decorative accent for a cabinet, sideboard, or collection of Chinese porcelain.

Design & Decoration

Blossoms and swallows create a lively all-over composition, framed by cloud-and-thunder ornament known as yunwen and leiwen. The repeating meander border adds a rhythmic finishing detail.
